A Glass Slipper Family...

In August 2009 I calculated the size of our household carbon footprint and it was 37.65 tonnes of CO2! Since then we began recycling, changing lightbulbs, driving less, planting a garden, trying to buy organic and locally grown items. I went back and recalculated our carbon footprint and it is now 5.73 tonnes! We have gone from a BIGFOOT to a Glass Slipper size in just 6 months! Of course, I must be honest and say that when I add in my daughter, Boo Boo, it does go up to 8.79 tonnes. But, she is a college student and lives here in between school semesters and/or times of lack of money. We are not perfect recyclers, but we are doing the best we can. Bottom line: if we can do it--even the little that we do--CLEARLY anyone can do it!

  1. I am totally worthless when it comes to recycling. I have the best of intentions, but then I forget and throw everything away.

I don't understand why our city doesn't have a mandatory recycling program. Everywhere else I have ever lived did, and we recycled everything-- right down to our lawn clippings.
